The most common mouldings one can find in virtually any home are skirting or baseboards, typically at the bottom of walls, crown mouldings, which are usually at the ceiling, and casings, which are usually around doors and windows. Choose based on the interior style for the room, whether it's classical or traditional style.
Keep the general theme of your house in mind. Use detailed mouldings for traditional styles and simple profiles with neutral colours for modern ones. Always test samples in your space for an eye view.
There are various shapes in the market, some popular options are L-Profile, T-Profile, U-Profile, J-Profile, and Edge/Corner profiles.
L-Profile: This can be applied for protection and edge finishing, such as countertops or corners.
T-Profile: Join two kinds of flooring materials and create decorative dividers.

Transition profiles serve the purpose of joining two flooring surfaces that come in exactly the same height, like tiles to tiles or wood to wood. They offer a neat and seamless appearance.
Think about function and look. If you need to protect an edge, an L-Profile is the way to go, use T or reducer profiles for transitions between surfaces. The material and finish of the profiles should always correspond to the style of your space.
