Are there any special care or maintenance requirements for laminate surfaces?
The maintenance of a laminate surface is pretty easy but is quite necessary for its appearance and longevity. Normally, general cleaning of the surface with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent will render the surface clean and hygienically safe. However, always avoid the use of abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or steel wool, as these can scratch and damage the surface of the laminate.
The laminates are not very heat-resistant, so one may need to put trivets or heat pads between the hot pots and pans and the surfaces. Spills, especially acidic or colored—red wine or beet juice—should be wiped up promptly to protect the surface from staining. Even though laminates stand to most stains, some liquid substances may cause discoloration or damage with a long exposure.
